Under a mudslide, over 100 dead in Petropolis (Brazil) – Corriere.it

The torrential rains that hit Petropolis, a popular Brazilian tourist destination in the hills north of Rio de Janeiro, resulted in over 100 deaths and many missing. Rescuers dig in the mud and rubble in search of possible survivors, after the rains of Tuesday 15 February poured water on the city in three hours equal to a month of rainfall. As a result of the floods, many lands gave way and mud engulfed the houses. It is feared that the wet and soaked soil could still lead to landslides and consequently a situation of danger for the inhabited areas (Afp)
